To enjoy all the beautiful sights of Skopelos it is helpful to have the use of a car or motorbike. If you don't have one of your own you can rent a vehicle on the island or use the excellent regular bus services to visit the most popular beaches and villages..

The main road network of Skopelos covers a distance of 37Km (from the main town, to the harbor of Glossa,(Loutraki). The driver needs to pay attention but the journey is spectacular through the pine forests. The roads are in good condition and asphalted. Once on the minor roads the surface may be gravel but the scenery more than makes up for the uneven ride. Finding a parking place in the main town may prove difficult during mid August. The period when the island overflows with visitors.

Be sure to provide yourself with a map or guidebooks when you arrive on Skopelos, the island roads are not complicated so you should not face any problems.

Having beautiful pine forests to drive or walk through is wonderful, but, a carelessly discarded cigarette can destroy many acres of forest. You will see groups of Fire Wardens at many sites throughout the island, please inform them of any potentially dangerous situations or inconsiderate actions you may have witnessed. Not all of our visitors are aware of the potential damage caused by a cigarette thrown out of a car window onto the roadside pine needles, or a bottle left under the trees.

In Skopelos there are at least 4 petrol stations so you won't have problems supplying your car with petrol.

For those staying in the town of Skopelos you need to know that cars are forbidden inside the town. Many of the streets are just too narrow for vehicle access. Only the ring road, which leads to the port of Skopelos and the central street with the harbor promenade, are accessible by car.
