SKOPELOS SIGHTSEEINGS

SKOPELOS
AMARANTOS ROCKS AGNONTAS

Amarantos ( Amarandos ) is one of the most distinctive and recognizable landscapes on Skopelos. The area is known for its characteristic pine trees growing on the rocks right next to the sea, creating a unique contrast between the green of the trees and the deep blue of the Aegean.

Many visitors make a short stop here while exploring the island. The scenery is simple yet striking and it is often one of the most photographed spots on Skopelos.

The view over the sea is particularly beautiful, especially at sunset, but also at any time of the day, as the white rocks reflect the light and give the landscape a unique brightness.

Amarantos lies along the road between the beaches of Stafylos and Velanio and the village of Agnontas. Leaving the beaches of Stafylos and Velanio and heading towards Agnontas, just before reaching the village you will see on your left a concrete-paved road that leads to Amarantos.

Just before the sharp bend on the road, a small path begins that leads down to the white rock with the characteristic pine trees of Amarantos.

Access to the sea is through rocks and visitors should be careful.

Some scenes from the movie Mamma Mia! were filmed in the Amarantos area, which made this landscape familiar to many visitors.

The logo of Skopelosweb is inspired by the distinctive scenery of Amarantos.
